IGP Idris Ibrahim Inaugurates NPBS Board.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris has inaugurated the board of newly established Nigeria Police Broadcasting Service (NPBS).
Inaugurating the board at the IGP Conference hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja on February 22nd, 2018, and the IGP expressed optimism that the NPBS will go a long way in augmenting the effort of the Nigeria Police in tackling criminal activities across the country.
While noting the importance of the media in the fight against crime, IGP Idris stressed that the platform will afford the Police the opportunity to tell its stories, devoid of distortion and promptly respond to emerging security challenges through a dedicated toll free line, just as he urged the board members to live above board in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Earlier, the MD/Chief Executive Officer of NPBS, Mr. Edirin Jerry Wesley in his remark at the event, lauded the visionary leadership of IGP Ibrahim Idris which led to the actualization of the project.
Mr Edirin who noted that no nation can succeed in the fight against crime without effective communication mechanisms, stressed that NPBS will go a long way in bridging the communication gap between the Nigeria Police and the public, calling for public patronage of the platforms for effective policing of Nigerian communities.
Speaking further, the NPBS Chairman revealed that the project would deploy modern technological apparatus in information dissemination and the fight against crime, just as he highlighted the partnership strategy with reputable companies and organizations within and outside Nigeria for the overall success of the project.
Also speaking, a member of the board, DIG Jonathan Johnson (Rtd), commended IGP Ibrahim Idris for his bold step in actualizing the noble initiative and called for sustenance of the project.

It would be recalled that the Nigeria Police has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SkyTick Global Technology Ltd for the establishment of the Nigeria Police Broadcasting Service under a public private partnership.
The NPBS which will operate across the federation will provide Radio, Television, online media and national emergency call centre services.
