
Herdsmen attacks Adamawa Taraba – Suspected herdsmen attack 5 communities in Adamawa, Taraba – The attack was reported to have occurred in Numan and Demsa local government areas of Adamawa state and Lau local government area of neighbouring Taraba state. A Popular TV Station reports that the attackers invaded the communities on motorcycles, shooting sporadically with what residents reported to be sophisticated weapons.
The gunmen were said to have carried out the attack on the afternoon of Sunday, July 8. Sodom Tayedi, the member representing Numan in the Adamawa state house of assembly, was reported to have confirmed that the attack started from 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and lasted late into the night. He reportedly said most people were caught unawares being a market day in one of the communities.

According to reports, Santuraki, Abbare and Nnega villages were attacked by the gunmen, while Mayo Lope town was also not spared.

A resident of the town, Alhaji Abubakar Abbare, said the attack was unprovoked, adding that Fulani in Abbare have coexisted peacefully with their hosts for over a century.
He said they have sent distress calls to security agents including the police over the attack but up till now they were facing threats of attack from the militiamen.
