command headquarters being constructed
by the Governor Rochas Okorocha led administration.
Situated in the heart of Owerri the state capital, this beautiful edifice which is also in close proximity with the Prisons and court rooms also built by the Imo state government signals a new era for the Nigeria Police force in Imo State.
According to the Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha, the structure when completed will meet the requirements of the International safety standards. Equipped with emergency service units(to enable exit within 6 minutes), closed circuit security cameras as well as crowd control steel fencing, well furnished offices for officers, armoury, clinic etc.
The Governor stated that the project became imperative given the decision of the government to change the face of Imo state. He said that the current state police command building as it stands is not in tune with the vision of his administration hence the need for this laudable project.
The Inspector General of Police in his remarks thanked the Governor and the people of Imo state for the project which he described as one of its kind in sub-saharan Africa. He also urged other state Governors to emulate Governor Rochas Okorocha in helping to re-position the Nigeria Police Force. He further restated the Police’ determination to rid Imo state of all criminal elements.
