FIFA Ranking 2018 – Super eagles drop to 48th Position
– Super Eagles drop one place in the new FIFA ranking released
– Germany remain No. 1 as Brazil comes No. 2
– The New Ranking affects other countries – Majorly Nigerian Opponent in Russia 2018
Nigeria dropped one place from 47th to 48th position in the new ranking released by FIFA on Thursday, June 7.
In the continent, the Super Eagles also slipped from sixth to seventh position as Ghana overtook Nigeria by a step in 47th and sixth positions respectively. Following their three losses in the five friendlies played this year, the three time African champions, as expected dropped in the perking order released by the football governing body FIFA Ranking 2018.

The Super Eagles have 618 points having lost 17 points from last month’s 635 and incidentally, none of Nigeria’s opponents at the World Cup rose in the ranking. Argentina remain the fifth best team in the world (FIFA Ranking 2018), while Croatia dropped two places from 18th to 20th and World Cup debutants Iceland stayed in the 22nd spot. Germany retain their first position, while Brazil, Belgium, and Portugal occupy second, third and fourth positions respectively.

Switzerland are in sixth, while France are seventh but Poland moved up three spots from 10th to eighth while Chile and Spain retain their ninth and 10th spots respectively.
The Green and White men recently lost by 1-0 to the Czech Republic in their final friendly match played in Austria.
